CANTINA GUIDELINES:
1. Cantina owners must host charity tournament games having at least six (6) players in attendance in order to validate Championship Points for players. Individual players must also attend at least two (2) charity tournaments within the season to validate total Championship Points at the end of the season. Cantinas also have a two (2) charity tournament minimum for the 'Philanthropy Award'.
2. Minimum donation requirement for players to participate in Sabacc For Charity tournament game is $5 per player. Cantina owners have the option to raise the minimum donation amount. Players can opt to donate but not participate in the tournament points system. All funds collected have to go to the chosen charity.
3. Benefitting charity must be a reputable 501c3 organization in good standing and the cantina owner should have a direct contact with the chosen charity representative(s). (Refer to charitynavigator.org)
4. Cantina owners must show proof of charitable donations to the chosen charity and tournament results by emailing Sabacc4Charity@gmail.com . Include Cantina Name, Resident State, Attendee Names, Attendee Emails, and Attendee Final Game Credit Count in the email. FORM options are available to submit results.
5. Cantina owners have the option to add their own prizes for their players while hosting a Sabacc For Charity tournament.
6. Cantinas can use any sabacc variant they wish for their charity tournament events.
7. Players can use their own name or in-universe character name when submitting results but player email address must remain the same throughout the season.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
1. Every player begins the games with the same number of credits (1,000 credits total; normally consisting of 4 gold, 8 silver, and 20 copper credits). Credit caps are established by the Cantina host. House Rules apply; so, the Cantina host can override.
2. Only In-universe Sabacc credits can be used for Tournament games. Items like Kyber crystals, Coaxium, and blasters cannot be used as currency or used to barter. Absolutely no real-world gambling or bartering real-world items allowed!
3. Players are encouraged to arrive to their assigned table at least 10 minutes prior to tournament start time to go over any questions players may have. Dealers, or host, will briefly explain gameplay and make sure all players are familiar with rules.
4. Once the game begins, any player not at their assigned table will forfeit their participation in that game. Each player is responsible to be on time! To maintain tournament game integrity, all players must be subject to the same game conditions. (This rule is more directed for tournament games at conventions with lots of players and multiple tables) .
5. Players that have paid to enter the tournament but are then not able to attend, can assign another player to take their place at the gaming table. Players can simply donate to the benefitting charity if they wish to only play but do not want to participate in tournament points; if so, their points are given to the next highest player that made it to the final round (top 6).
6. A tally of each player's total credits earned in each charity tournament game needs to be recorded by the cantina host. After the season is complete, if there is a tie in championship points, the first tie breaker will be the player's number of attended games. If there are multiple players tied with number of attended games, the 'end of game credits' number will be used the second tie breaker.
7. Sabacc For Charity National Sabacc Tournament seasons begin Feb. 1st and ends Nov. 30th. All charity tournament game results should be submitted before midnight, on November 30th.

Preguntas y respuestas
Sabacc For Charity (S4C) wishes to answer all the questions you may have about Sabacc and our events. If you can't find the answers on this page, feel free to join our public Facebook page or email us directly.
Q: How do I begin to participate in this national tournament?
A: If you are a casual player looking to be a contender as the national or state sabacc champion, you can visit any cantina near you that is hosting a S4C sanctioned tournament game. If you have your own cantina and would like to host a charity tournament game, simply select a 501c3 charity of your choice and have at least 6 players donate to the chosen charity a minimum of $5 to enter the tournament game.
Q: How do I earn points?
A: Players that have donated to the charity and entered the sabacc tournament will earn points based on their final credit count, for example: first place earns 100 points for that tournament. Players can earn more points by continuing to attend other sabacc tournaments and donating to the charity. State Multiplier system only applies to in-person games and not online charity games. If a player only scores points in one charity game but has attended two or more charity games, that single score is validated by the player meeting the two game minimum. In addition, the maximum points that any player can score in a single season is 500.
Q: What if I can't get more players to play?
A: We do have the six-player minimum to be sure that games are more than just casual gameplay. Our goal is first to raise as many funds and as much awareness as we can for the charities but we also aim to be competitive as we will be having prizes and awards for the state and national champions.. So the six-player minimum is required for all tournament games.
Q: Can players participate in cantinas outside their state and still earn points?
A: Any player can visit other cantinas in any other state and earn championship points if that cantina is hosting a charity tournament game. The state points multiplier remains solely with the individual player's resident state and not based on the cantina where the game is hosted in.
Q: How do I submit final scores and donations?
A: Cantina host must submit via email the final scores of all players (Cantina name, State, names of players, emails, and final game credit count) along with the name of the charity and with proof of the amount raised for the charity. Without proof of donation(s) to the charity, the scores will not count toward the S4C national tournament. Proof of donations can be given as a screenshot (including amounts) or an email from the charity with total amount. Cantina owner/host should include all players, including their emails, who attended the charity game, even players who did not score points. You can use the FORM provided on this site or email Sabacc4Charity@gmail.com directly.
Q: What if the charity accepts things like toys and canned goods; can players donate that instead of money?
A: Yes, donated goods are acceptable. The cantina owner that is hosting the charity tournament is responsible to get the donated goods to the charity. The charity must then provide a receipt via email with the estimated value of the goods in order to validate the results of the charity tournament.
Q: Where can I host a charity sabacc game?
A: Pretty much anywhere! We recommend a public venue where more people can easily access and feel free to join, like an arcade, comic book store, or a comic convention. Cantina hosts should make contact with the venue and gain permission before hosting a charity tournament at the venue.
Q: Can the cantina host also participate and earn points?
A: Most definitely, yes. As long as the player donates the $5 minimum to the charity, they are in! Both the Cantina and players are subject to the two game minimum rule.
Q: Is cheating allowed?
A: No. S4C understands that there are cantinas out there with different house rules, but with S4C tournaments, there is absolutely no cheating allowed. Everyone starts off the same and is bound by the same game rules.
Disclaimers:
- Any additional prizes provided by the cantina owner/host are not from Sabacc For Charity nor they reflect Sabacc For Charity's views or mission.
- Sabacc For Charity does not condone nor permit gambling with real currency or bartering real-world personal items.
- Cantina owners and players must do their due diligence to confirm the legitimacy of the charity they are donating to. Sabacc For Charity is not responsible for any mishandling of funds raised by the cantina owners/players or the charity itself.
- State Multiplier system is based off the number of cantinas within the state at the beginning of the season and does not change until the season ends. Multiplier can change if number of cantinas in the state increases or decreases. States with 11 or more cantinas have a 1x multiplier, states with 5 to 10 cantinas have a 1.25x multiplier, and states with 4 or fewer have a 1.5x multiplier.
- Only winners who live in the continental U.S. (48 states, excluding Alaska and Hawaii) are eligible to earn championship points.
- For charity tournaments with multi-round brackets, players' end credit count submitted in the results is to be from the final table only. Players' end-of-game credits from previous rounds do not stack.
- Total amount raised towards a charity from tournaments that are organized and hosted by Sabacc For Charity LLC is not transferrable to other cantinas. S4C cannot assist other cantinas and must remain neutral in regards to the Philanthropy Award.
- Philanthropy Award is given to a single cantina owner who hosted and raised the most money benefitting the chosen charities in a single season.
- Sabacc For Charity is not liable for any costs incurred by the hosting cantina or its players. Any expenses made by the host or its players is strictly at their own discretion and Sabacc For Charity has no obligations to refund or reimburse costs.
- Sabacc For Charity is not liable for any damages done during tournament games hosted by other cantina owners or their players.
- Goods donated to charities, like toys and canned foods, must equal a value of $5 or more to participate in the charity tournament.
- Estimated value of goods donated to charities is given by the charity via email with total value amount. Email must be authentic and sent from the charity unaltered. Cantina owner who hosted charity event is responsible to communicate with charity and its representative(s).
- The use of the Sabacc For Charity logo is prohibited unless authorized by Jonathan Aponte, owner of Sabacc For Charity. Sabacc For Charity also reserves the right to have any Sabacc For Charity logo(s) pulled from any media used by another party at any time.
- State Champion trophy will only be given to players that have participated in at least two (2) charity tournaments.
- State multiplier only modifies the points earned from the tournament, not the amount of credits a player ends up with at the end of the tournament.
- Sabacc For Charity reserves the right to request proof of tournament existence if it has any reason to suspect that falsified results or fake tournaments have been submitted for inclusion in the National Tournament.
- Only the top 5 scoring games of every player will be what is credited towards the Championship. This will put a cap of 500 points as a perfect score in a single season. Players with over 500 points because of the State Multiplier, will still show 500 as they've reached the scoring cap.
- By hosting and/or participating in this Sabacc For Charity National Tournament, all individuals agree to the guidelines, tournament rules, and disclaimers provided on this website.
