This Fall will be full of conventions on the calendar! We had some convention fun over the Summer we’d like to highlight and more adventures to come in the next several weeks. Let’s get into it!
We had a blast at Rebel Scum Con in the Lone Star State a month ago with our friends from Texas and around the country. We flew over a thousand miles and made memories to last a lifetime. We partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charity of Dallas again and successfully raised $455 to support families staying in the local RMHC houses. We are grateful for every single player that donated, hung out in our area, and stuck around to play & learn. We are incredibly grateful to our Floridian volunteers that flew out to volunteer with us and we absolutely couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you!! We are also immensely grateful to our tournament sponsors: Hyperspace Props, Offworld Exports, and Clever 3D Studios. If you weren’t able to make it to Rebel Scum Con this year, we hope to see you there in 2026!
We also received a friendly shout-out from the organizers of Rebel Scum Con on the Thank The Maker podcast, which you can view the short snippet here: https://youtu.be/3_CmzKKepzI?si=l53rLV183kAvC5ks
Back in July, we returned to host another tournament at Layton Gaming but this time we were able to enjoy their new location in Altamonte Springs, FL. It was much bigger and we were able to decorate one of their separate rooms smack-dab in the middle of the gaming area, for all to see! We had the best time and we appreciate Layton Gaming for allowing us to use their space and for their donations to our prize pools. We dedicated that tournament to our friends at Runway to Hope (RTH) and were able to raise $450 towards their efforts with pediatric cancer families in need. We even taught sabacc to our RTH friends and hope they might even join us for a game next time around. Maybe we’ll let the Wookie-onesie win!
Back in May, we had a fantastic time at a new tournament location, Conduit, in Winter Park, FL. We decorated the entire venue to feel like a cantina and the bar even created in-universe themed cocktails & mocktails that everyone loved! We partnered with The Central Florida Coalition for the Homeless and raised an incredible $875 to support their efforts helping those experiencing homelessness locally. We filled over 6 tables with players and had numerous friends from all over Florida in attendance. Thank you all for showing up and giving back!
On another note, our National Tournament started back in February of this year and it’s been amazing to see how many charities have benefited since sabacc cantinas all across the country have gotten involved! Sabacc for Charity has stretched well past the Florida state line and into numerous other states AND virtual platforms! We have successfully & collectively raised over $7,000 towards incredible causes thanks to players & cantina owners like you! Thank you! Being able to support these non-profits within our communities all over the country is what Sabacc for Charity is all about. We can’t thank you all enough for supporting our mission and hosting your own charity tournaments. We look forward to seeing all of the upcoming tournaments though the end of our gaming season!
That was just our Summer season, and now we have 3 Fall conventions coming up nearly back-to-back!
First, we look forward to our 3rd year at Ocala Comic Con come Sept. 20th & 21st. Can you believe it’s been 3 years already!? We will be supporting a new charity partner this year, The Family Haven, where 100% of proceeds will benefit their efforts in supporting children emotionally, socially, and academically. They believe that every child deserves a loving and nurturing family. Their family-centered approach means that each child is provided with a unique support system that helps them thrive. They’re committed to providing children with a safe, healthy, and fulfilling childhood so they can reach their full potential. We can’t wait to bring sabacc to Ocala again and introduce this non-profit to everyone!
Second, we will be attending FanBoy Expo Orlando again this year the weekend of Sept. 26th - 28th. We have partnered with City Year Orlando before and we will have a bigger gaming space this time around too! City Year Orlando supports students in underserved communities by inviting tutors & mentors within their classrooms to assist not only the students but to lend an extra helping hand to the teachers as well. Swing by after collecting signatures from your favorite voice actors and celebrities and we’ll save you a seat at the table!
Our final convention for the year will be HalcyCon, come Oct. 16th - 18th, and we can’t wait! We will have another new charity partner for this convention as well - the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS is a national, volunteer health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. We had a phenomenal time last year within the Halcyon community and this year will be just as great, if not better! Prepare for an incredibly immersive gaming experience and let’s cruise through the galaxy together in style!
We hope to see you at our upcoming tournaments and if not within the next several weeks we hope to see you at next year’s conventions! Stay tuned for more events to come and make sure you’re following us on our social media pages. This is the way
